Empowering Our South Western Students and Families to Achieve Their Post Secondary Education Dreams

Purpose:
The purpose of South Western Dollars for Scholars is to solicit, receive, and administer donations, gifts, and funds to develop a base of financial support for resident graduates of South Western High School who are striving to continue their post secondary education in academic and vocational areas.

Affiliations:
South Western Dollars for Scholars is affiliated at the county level with The York County Community Foundation. This affiliation enables our students to be eligible for county wide scholarships. At the national level, South Western Dollars for Scholars is affiliated with Scholarship America which was founded in 1958 for the purpose of supporting local scholarships in order to bring postsecondary education within reach for students who otherwise could not afford it. This affiliation makes it possible for our students to be eligible for national scholarships.

Why Scholarships:
The average cost of post secondary education has doubled in the last two decades while the demand for post secondary degrees and credentials is at an all-time high. By 2025, our nation will require 11 million more postsecondary credentials than the U.S. is currently on track to produce. By empowering our South Western students and families to achieve their postsecondary education dreams, we hope to ensure individual prosperity and a stronger more vibrant nation.
